Rules of the Pathway

A few things to remember when riding on shared pathways;

 

WARN OTHER WHEN PASSING

When approaching pedestrians, sound your bell/horn or call to warn them you are passing

 

 

BE ALERT

 

Cycle WindsorWatch for surface hazards.  Cross railway tracks at a right angle to avoid getting your  wheels caught.

 

 

BE SEEN AND BE HEARD

Half of all collisions  drivers claim not to have seen the cyclist.  As a cyclist make a  point of being seen and heard.

 

KEEP TO THE RIGHT

All pathway users must keep to

the right except when passing.

Yield to pedestrians, they have

the right of-way on ,multi-use

pathways.

 

RIDE SLOWLY

Ride slowly down hills, under

and across bridges and where

pathways curve sharply. Reduce

your speed when the pathway is

busy.

 

 

SHARE THE PATHWAY

Slow down when passing

other trail users.  Users

should allow room for others to

pass. Pass other users when

it is safe to do so.

 Always wear a properly

fitting helmet and make

sure it is CSA, Snell or

 ANSI-approved.
